Over 18m lei raised for fighting COVID-19 so far

A total sum of 18.331,214 million lei was collected into the accounts opened by the Ministry of Finance for donations to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, IPN has learned from the Ministry of Finance.

About 13.5 million lei of the donations made by private individuals and legal entities for financing urgent costs associated with the combating of the pandemic was transferred to the Government’s Intervention Fund.

Of this amount, 5.8 million lei was allocated for purchasing 51,000 protective suits and for paying the lump sum of 16,000 lei to 29 employees of eight public health facilities and a budget-funded institution who contracted COVID-19 at the workplace.

On March 17, the Ministry of Finance opened three accounts to raise funds for fighting the virus, in Moldovan lei, U.S. dollars and euros. Donations can be made through the agency of the government e-payment gateway Mpay.
