The number of employees of the subdivisions of the Ministry of the Interior, who will be on duty during the public holidays, will be doubled. Over 4,000 police officers will maintain public order. In a news conference, the representative of the Carabineer Troops Department Dumitru Scurtu called on the citizens to avoid becoming involved in conflicts and to call the emergency phone service 112 or go to the closest police station if they are witness to a tense or unordinary situation, IPN reports.

The population is warned to purchase pyrotechnics only in authorized places and to be very prudent when setting them off. In public areas, the consumption of alcohol is banned and the inebriated persons are recommended to remain at home. The parents are urged to attentively supervise the children, especially in entertainment places.

Pavel Apostol, head of the press service of the National Patrolling Inspectorate, said a larger number of patrol teams will work on the national roads in the period of the bank holidays. The inspectors will measure the speed with the assistance of radars. Special operations will be performed to identify persons driving under the influence.

In another press briefing, the head of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies Mihail Harabagiu said over 500 rescuers and firemen in the period will be ready to intervene in emergencies with 150 firefighting vehicles. If need be, additional forces will be mobilized. The intervention protocols of the central public authorities and the local ones were reviewed. Special attention was devoted to the protocols of road workers and electric power suppliers.

The rescuers call on the population to obey the security measures and anti-fire norms. The people are asked to maintain free access so that the ambulances and firefighting vehicles could move freely.
