Over 690,000 beneficiaries to get indexed pensions

With the recent modification of the pension indexation formula, all pensions will be indexed by 5.3%. Whereas previously the indexation was based on the average annual increase in consumer prices, the new formula averages the increase in consumer prices for the last three years, the National Social Insurance Company CNAS recalled in a press release.

Starting April 1, the pensions of over 690,000 beneficiaries will be indexed. According to the Government’s decision on the indexation of social security benefits and state social benefits, indexation of pensions is provided for all pensions established and recalculated under the Law on Public Pensions, Old-Age Pensions and Civil Servants’ Pensions. Among the beneficiaries will also be the pensions of retired customs officers, the pensions established under the Law on the social protection of the citizens who suffered from the Chernobyl disaster, the pensions established under the Pension Insurance Act of the military and the commanders and the troops of the internal affairs bodies.

The amount of the indexed minimum age pension will be 1,079.33 lei, compared to 1,025 lei before. The amount of the minimum disability pension in case of severe disability will be 809.50 lei, in the case of a serious disability - 755.53 lei, and in the case of a mild disability - 539.67 lei. If the amount of the pension calculated according to the law is lower than the minimum pension for the respective category, the difference between these amounts is covered by the state budget. Monthly pension expenses following the indexation have increased by 65.9 million lei to 1.304 billion lei per month.

Also beginning April 1, state social benefits will increase for more than 59,000 beneficiaries and care benefits for over 14,000 beneficiaries.
