Over 70 young people came together at Forum of Young Entrepreneurs in Chisinau

The results achieved by the young people who started businesses over the last year were discussed in the second Forum of Young Entrepreneurs in Chisinau. The event brought together about 100 people, over 70 of whom are entrepreneurs from all over the country, and representatives of the central and local public authorities and experts of international organizations, IPN reports.

In the opening of the event, Minister of Youth and Sport Octavian Bodisteanu said the entrepreneurs have always been the driving force of the country, contributing to the creation of workforces and the development of economy. The continuous managerial development of the young entrepreneurs plays a special role in business development as it would be hard to achieve the set objectives without it.

Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family Ruxanda Glavan said the young people play a very important social role. The future of every country depends on the employment figures. That’s why the businesses initiated by young people represent a step forward for Moldova. “We are those who approve of the fact that you create workplaces and who will always support you,” she stated.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Viorel Gutu said more than half of the businesses started by young entrepreneurs are in the agricultural sector. Therefore, the Ministry pledges to further invest in the young people who develop agribusinesses.

Octavian Vasilache, head of the Education Ministry’s Secondary, Vocational and Specialized Secondary Education Division, said that the entrepreneurship basis course was introduced in technical vocational education in order to encourage and help the young people to start businesses.

Ilan Vuddamalay, representative of Argidius Foundation that financially supports young entrepreneurs, said that during her visit to Moldova she saw that the initiated projects produced results. By their businesses, the young people contribute to developing the SME sector.

Stela Chiriac, entrepreneur from Orhei, said the she worked abroad for 10 years and then returned home. She stared a business for making briquettes from biomass. A tonne of briquettes costs between 1,300 and 2,200 lei, depending on the raw material used. The cheapest briquettes are those from sunflower husks and straw, while the dearest ones are made from sawdust.

Igor Golban from Chisinau, together with his wife, decided to invest in an apartment repair business. They now work without intermediaries and manage all he money themselves.

Tudor Paschevici from Negureni, Telenesti returned from Ireland and invested about 100,000 lei that he earned there in planting an apple orchard on an area of 16 hectares. The orchard is cultivated according to the most modern technologies and is irrigated by a dripping system from a well.

The Forum of Young Entrepreneurs is held in Chisinau on November 26-27.
