Palanca mayor’s office seeks privileges for locals

The mayor’s office of Palanca village pleads for the negotiation of an agreement with the Ukrainian side, which would give the locals privileges on the Odessa-Reni road section ceded to Ukraine, including as regards the sale of agricultural products. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, mayor of Palanca Larisa Voloh said the vendors selling their products at the authorized market do not have incomes because there are traffic signs along this road section that ban parking. ”This issue is more within the remit of the Ukrainian authorities. We do not know why parking is not allowed. The persons put up for sale fruit and vegetables, but no buyers come. I don’t know if there are laws banning economic activities on this road which now belongs to another state,” said Larisa Voloh. According to the mayor, the agreement whereby this road section was transferred to Ukraine does not clearly specify the privileges that the locals can enjoy and says nothing about the use of this section for economic purposes. Only the preamble mentions something, but there is no separate point on this. Larisa Voloh considers it is now opportune to create another authorized market in the area. “We may also establish Moldovan-Ukrainian partnerships to trade in the area. We sell and they buy or vice versa,” she stated. Late in June, a responsible group of Moldovan and Ukrainian experts started to set up border signs near Palanca. Farmers from Olanesti, Crohmaz, Tudora, and Palanca sell their products along the road going near the village.
