Pandemic flu claims two more lives

The pandemic influenza A(H1N1) caused two more victims – a woman aged 38 and a five-year-old child. During the first 18 days of this year, the disease has taken 12 lives, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to sources in the Ministry of Health, the woman is from Chisinau and died at the National Clinical Hospital, while the little girl is from Stefan Voda district and died at the district hospital. Both of the victims were seen by the doctor too late, on the third or fourth day. This year, the laboratory of the National Scientific Practical Center of Preventive Medicine tested 316 samples. The virus was detected in 66 cases. A number of 10,441 cases of acute viral infection, 4,749 cases of flu and 1,870 cases of acute pneumonia have been reported in Moldova since January 1. The disease has caused 37 deaths in Moldova so far. The World Health Organization said 14,000 people from 200 countries have died from pandemic influenza since April last year.
