The adoption, destruction by burning and restoration of the Declaration of Independence are described in dozens of documents and photos contained in a documentary collection signed by Pantelei Sandulachi, chairman of the Association “Parlamentul 90”. The book was launched on August 26 and is dedicated to 20 years of the declaration of Moldova’s independence, Info-Prim Neo reports. “The sovereignty, independence of Moldova wasn’t a gift sent by Moscow. It was an objective finality of a natural national liberation process that started in 1988. The Declaration of Independence is not a simple document. It is the creed of the first Parliament and of hundreds of thousands of people,” said Pantelei Sandulachi. The author said the reader will find in the book the history of the Declaration of Independence and politicians’ statements about the destruction of this document and the restoration procedure. The collection includes a separate chapter about the removal of the barbed wire from along the border. The book launch brought together the signatories of the Declaration of Independence, people of culture, politicians and political analysts. “It was a very hard work as the entire archive was burnt during the April 7, 2009 events. The book contains the opinions of many of us. This shows that the members of the first Parliament were able not only to contribute to strengthening sovereignty, but also to rethink those events in an artistic manner,” said the first President of Moldova Mircea Snegur. The documentary collection “Declaration of Independence: adoption, destruction, restoration” was issued in 500 copies. It is available from bookstores for 600 lei.
