Papuc cannot be questioned as he is in hospital

Former Minister of the Interior Gheorghe Papuc is in the hospital and could not present himself at the Prosecutor's Office to give testimony in the six legal cases over embezzlement at the Ministry of the Interior. “We cannot question a person that is in the hospital. When he gets better and is discharged, he will be cited to the Prosecutor's Office for questioning. Many other officials will be summoned besides Mister Papuc,” Boris Poiata, of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, has told Info-Prim Neo. Gheorghe Papuc was admitted to the hospital of the Ministry of the Interior on March 26. The six legal cases concern abuse and misconduct in office and misappropriation. The damage caused to the state budget was estimated at over 68 million lei. No person was yet charged. Earlier, the Civil Council for Motoring the Center for Combating Economic Crime and Corruption recommended the Center not to open legal cases on offense, but against person. The Council's chairman Grigore Ciocanu said most of the times these cases are closed.
