The legislative body on July 29 appointed Dumitru Ursu, Alexandru Pelin, Valeriu Iasan and Vadim Enicov as members of the Supervisory Board of the National Bank of Moldova, IPN reports.
The Supervisory Board is a collegial board responsible for the organization of an efficient system of independent public surveillance of the work of the central bank. Its members are named for a seven-year term, but this can be extended at the suggestion of the Parliament’s commission on economy, budget and finance.
The procedure for selecting the four members was performed in June-July. After interviewing and assessing the professional and managerial skills of the 11 applicants, the parliamentary commission chose four candidates with the highest score.
The Board consists of seven members, namely the governor of the National Bank, who heads it, the first vice governor, who is the deputy chairman of the Board, a vice governor and four members who do not work for the central bank and are appointed by Parliament.
