Parliament names Victor Micu Supreme Court of Justice judge

Parliament appointed Victor Micu as a judge of the Supreme Court of Justice up to his age of 65, which is the age limit, IPN reports.

Victor Micu, who now heads the Supreme Council of Magistracy, was fielded for the post by the Council’s plenum after this obtained the highest score in the contest to fill the post of judge of the Supreme Court of Justice.

Victor Micu started work as a judge at the Rascani Court on April 30, 1998. In 2002, by presidential decree, he was named vice president of this court. In 2003, he was named judge up to the retirement age, while in 2006 he was appointed as president of the Rascani Court for a four-year term.

By the decision of the Supreme Council of Magistracy, Micu in 2010 was named president of the Rascani Court on an interim basis. At the start of 2014, he was named a member of the Supreme Council of Magistracy, while later the same year as chairman of the Council.
