Passenger smoking on train disrupts Chisinau-Ocnita service
The modernized train that runs on the Chisinau-Ocnita route interrupted its way on February 3. Investigations showed the generators were disconnected following the launch of the anti-fire system after a passenger smoked on the train, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to a communiqué from the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure, the train was heading for Taraclia, but stopped suddenly. During a check, it was established that the train’s safety system reacted to the smoke from a cigarette and blocked the alimentation of generators and the diesel engines.
The communiqué says the driver of the train was unable to correctly manage the situation and to ensure the smooth running of the train. This shows that the employees of Moldova’s Railways need to be prepared professionally, in accordance with the requirements for the use of renovated trains.
In the morning of February 4, the train went to Taraclia according to schedule, at 08.04.
