Moldova’s Railways on September 9 reopened the internal passenger train route Basarabeasca-Cahul after the reconstruction of the Giurgiulesti-Cahul railway segment, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure, the passenger trains on the Giurgiulesti-Cahul route will start to run daily on September 10, after a pause of about 15 months.
The Giurgiulesti-Cahul railway segment that connects the southern and northern districts of Moldova was closed for traffic in June 2012 following the damaging of a portion of railroad as a result of landslides.
