The districts of Soroca and Stefan Voda for the first time will hold passports for rare species of plants and animals and guidebooks on rare habitats. These, together with ecotourism guides, were designed with the support of a UNDP project financed by the Global Environment Facility, IPN reports.
Project manager Alexandru Rotaru said these passports of rare species of plants and animals help to monitor and to protect local biodiversity. The document describes the species, including the geographic position and the necessary protection measures. The data will be useful to the local public authorities and specialists and also to teachers and students.
The travel guides contain about 250 tourist attractions in Soroca and, respectively, 200 tourist attractions in Stefan Voda. They include information about tourism and the protected natural areas and useful data about museums, craftspeople and accommodation facilities.
The ecotourism guides will be distributed to schools, libraries and museums in the two districts.
