“The Alliance for European Integration during two months has shown that it is incompetent and anti-popular, while Marian Lupu, who has been proposed by the Alliance for head of state, will soon change his nice clothes,” Valentin Krylov, the secretary of the Executive Committee of the Party of Socialists “Patria-Rodina”, said in a news conference held at Info-Prim Neo News Agency on November 9.
Patria-Rodina calls on the Communist MPs not to vote for Lupu in the November 10 elections. The Socialists say the Alliance’s candidate is not able to deal with the crisis and the situation can worsen.
The new government only worsened the crisis situation, said the party’s president Eduard Smirnov. “The Alliance aims not to strengthen the statehood of Moldova, but to weaken it,” he said, adding that the human rights and freedoms are not respected, but violated and the people’s right to information and identity is infringed.
Valentin Krylov said that for the head of state to be elected the government coalition must be dissolved and there must be formed a center-left coalition, or there should be fielded a new candidate that will not represent the Alliance. “If Marian Lupu is elected President, the process of forming the new power will finish, but this power is unable to take correct decisions, in the interests of the people and the state.
“It is regrettable that the PCRM had supported Marian Lupu for eight years, but after April 5 he showed that he pursued other goals,” Krylov said.
The vote to elect the head of state will be held on November 10. Marian Lupu is the only candidate running in the presidential election. The PCRM’s Central Committee will hold a meeting today, starting at 15.00, to decide whether to vote in favor of Lupu or not.
