Prime Minister Pavel Filip requested customs officials in charge to simplify the procedures for crossing the border and to have a respectful attitude in the communication with the citizens. The request was made during a surprise visit to the Leuseni customs post on July 26, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.
The Premier discussed with the people and asked them about the waiting time in the customs post and about the attitude of employees of the Customs Service and the Border Police. “We earlier requested that the Cabinet members should leave offices and go and talk to people directly at the scene and ask them about the treatment from which they benefit when they interact with functionaries. The checks should be swift and should not bother the passengers,” stated Pavel Filip.
In this connection, the Premier discussed the bus passenger checking procedures with representatives of the responsible authorities and asked the drivers and passengers if the checks are not excessive. “We had another agreement – that you collect the passports here. An employee comes and collects the passports and looks at the holder and checks these only when there is something suspicious, not all the time,” stated the Premier.
Pavel Filip also went to the Leuseni-Albita border crossing point to see how the citizens cross the border in summer, when the flow is larger.
