“The executive and the press can have a relationship based on respect and arguments and this is one of the goals of my mandate,” said Prime Minister Pavel Filip. In a message on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day posted on a social networking site, the Premier says that owing to the journalists, the political class can become better, IPN reports.

“Today it is World Press Freedom Day when we celebrate the journalists who do the biggest service to our society when they come with substantiated criticism against the political class. This way we can become better and the press can fulfill its role in society,” said Pavel Filip.

He noted that he will come before the press and the people on a regular basis to transparently present the steps taken by the government.
