The Association “Parlamentul-90” says that after the legislative elections, the Communists Party (PCRM) intends to change Moldova’s flag and coat of arms. In a news conference on Wednesday, the Association’s head Pantelei Sandulachi said this fact is stipulated in the PCRM’s electoral platform. According to Pantelei Sandulachi, the ‘aggressive’ return of the extremist left will lead to a tenser situation in Moldova. “They will put all their plans into action. They want to replace the current flag with theirs. The Declaration of Independence was burned not accidentally,” he stated. The Head of Moldova’s first Parliament Alexandru Mosanu said the state symbols are regularly attacked by the Communists Party. “The Communist leader Vladimir Voronin has never apologized for naming the tricolor as fascist. It is revolting that the Communists incite the people to disobedience and disrespect for the law,” Alexandru Mosanu said. He cited a passage from Vladimir Voronin’s speech given in a party meeting, which says: “Our people proved theri right and historical privilege to raise the victory flag over Moldova again – Stephan the Great’s flag.” “They want to substitute the tricolor with red and blue fabrics, with a head of animal, but the legislation bans this,” Alexandru Mosanu said. Doctor Habilitate Victor Popa, division head within the Association’s secretariat, said one of the authors of the coat of arms Gheorghe Vrabie claims it. “Gheorghe Vrabie says he has the right to own the coat or arms, but this is not fair as he made it in concert with heraldry professor Maria Dogaru,” he stated. The representatives of the Association “Parlamentul-90” said they want the people to know that Moldova’ cost of arms has two authors, Gheorghe Vrabie being one of them. On November 3, it is 20 years of the adoption of Moldova’s coat of arms.
