PCRM: Local elections should be held on June 19 or 26
The leader of the Communist Party (PCRM) believes that the local general elections should take place on June 19 or 26, not on June 5 as some of the members of the ruling alliance want.
Vladimir Voronin made the statement when asked by the press to comment on the Liberal leader's proposal to include the issue of local elections in Thursday's sitting of the legislature, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to Vladimir Voronin, it is a kind of political blackmail on the part of the Liberal parliamentary group, which wants the local elections to take place as soon as possible so as not to lose the students who may vote for Dorin Chirtoaca, as they will go on vacation.
The Communist leader said the start of June is not a suitable period for local elections, both for the party that he represents and for the country's people.
