Pedestrian, bicyclist killed in car accidents
A pedestrian Tuesday was struck by a car in a crosswalk in Orhei town,
while a bicyclist was hit by a car on a street in the municipality of
Balti, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Traffic Police Division spokeswoman Dana Andronic said the first man
aged 71 was crossing the street legally when he was struck by a Honda
driven by a man aged 23. The ambulance doctors could not save him.
The driver who caused the accident in Balti municipality did not stop to
help. Eyewitnesses say the BMW made suddenly a U-turn and hit fatally
the bicyclist who was going according to rules. The man died on the
spot. His identity has not been yet established.
The same day, an inebriated 22-year-old man lost control of his car and
crashed it into a tree in Parcova village, Edinet. The driver and his
passenger aged 21 were taken to the hospital with cranial-cerebral
traumas and concussions.
A VAZ-2105 ran into a utility pole after the brake failed to work. The
driver aged 34 was diagnosed with a cranial-cerebral traumas and a
concussion.
Two persons were killed and six injured in six accidents that happened
on the national roads on October 26. Another 42 accidents have caused no
victims. The traffic police identified 12 drunk drivers.
