A man aged 23 was killed, while his 17-year-old sister suffered serious injuries when they were hit by a vehicle driven by an inebriated man in Cuconestii Noi village of Edinet district in the evening of April 12. The driver didn’t stop to help, IPN reports.

According to the National Patrolling Inspectorate, the 28-year-old driver was arrested shortly afterward. His car was found in the yard of his house. The breath alcohol test showed 0.65 mg/l in the exhaled air, which mean an advanced state of inhabitation.

The man is investigated for driving under the influence, causing of an accident that resulted in death and leaving of the scene.

The police warn that the drivers involved in a road accident are obliged to stop immediately and to give aid to those hurt. These must also call an ambulance if persons were injured in the accident or take the victims to the nearest hospital themselves and should then return to the scene, inform the police about the accident and stay there until a police team arrivers.
