Pensioners residing abroad will be able to receive Moldovan pension

Moldovan nationals who reside abroad and have reached retirement age will be able to receive a Moldovan pension under a secondary legislation measure approved by the Government. The Law making this possible took effect on 1 January 2019.

To become a beneficiary, applicants will have to file a formal request in person with the social insurance subdivision of the last place of residence in Moldova, and produce a Moldovan passport as well as an ID of the new country of residence.

Every year, in order to continue receiving the pension, beneficiaries will have to present certificates of life. These can be requested at Moldova’s diplomatic or consular missions, or from social insurance subdivisions, and can be sent to the Social Insurance Company by mail.
