Representatives of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth”, which is the organizer of the protests staged in the Great National Assembly Square of Chisinau, announce a new protest. This time the activists will picket the head office of the National Public Broadcaster “Teleradio-Moldova” and will demand that this provide airtime to the members of the Council of the Great National Assembly and hold a debate with the participation of members of the Pensioners Union, IPN reports.
Secretary of the Council of the Great National Assembly Chiril Motpan, in the ordinary news conference held in the central square of Chisinau, said the members of the Council want to speak to the viewers of the public TV channel “Moldova 1” about the sociopolitical situation in the country and to inform them about the content of the proclamation adopted on September 6. The protesters will also demand fully broadcasting the feature about the pensioners’ protest of September 25 and organizing a public debate on “Moldova 1” for members of the Pensioners Union.
The Platform’s representatives said that last Sunday they had meetings with people from the districts of Cimislia, Falesti, Criuleni, Balti, Calarasi and others. During the next few days they will travel to Nisporeni, Hancesti, Soldanesti, and Ialoveni districts.
According to the organizers, about 100,000 people took part in the protest mounted in the Great National Assembly Square on September 6. Afterward, the protesters decided to pitch tents and to protest nonstop in the Square. They demand holding early legislative elections. The September 13 protest involved 10,000 to 20,000 people, as different sources reported.
