Persons marrying abroad will obtain certificate of matrimonial capacity easier
The persons who intend to get married abroad will not encounter difficulties in obtaining a certificate of matrimonial capacity anymore, Civil Status Service manager Lucia Ciobanu has told Info-Prim Neo.
The certificate is issued within 30 days of the submission of the application and costs 50 lei. No other authentication procedures are required. This became possible after the Government earlier this week extended the list of services provided by the Civil Status Service.
Lucia Ciobanu said until present the procedure for applying for certificates of matrimonial capacity was difficult and long. The certificate was to be translated into the official language of the country where the marriage was registered and then authenticated.
“The certificate of matrimonial capacity includes in fact two documents. One shows the civil status of the person, while the other one shows there are no obstacles to performing the marriage,” Lucia Ciobanu explained.
After Moldova signed the Convention of the International Commission on Civil Status, the problems concerning the translation and authentication of the certificate of matrimonial capacity and other related problems were removed. The certificate issued in Moldova will be recognized in 11 counties that ratified this Convention, including Italy, Portugal, France and Spain.
