The persons who insure themselves medically must buy a health policy by March 31. After this date, they will be fined 1,000 lei and will pay penalties of 0.1% of the policy’s price for every day of delay, IPN reports.
Lilia Onea, head of the information and communication with the mass media service of the National Health Insurance Company, said that 1.7% of the Moldovans must purchase policies by themselves.
If these persons do not buy a health policy, they will be warned by the Company by a letter sent to their home address. Afterwards they will be sued. The fine is paid voluntarily or by force, in accordance with the legislation.
The persons who insure themselves medically (patent holders, lesees, freelancers) can purchase the policy at half price in the period between January 2 and March 31. Farmland owners benefit from discounts of 75% in the period. The health policies are already distributed through post offices and the local offices of the National Health Insurance Company.
