PGO examines case of young woman’s arrest
The Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) is examining the circumstances in which a young woman was arrested by a police officer and forced to get into a private car so as to see if the policeman acted in accordance with the law, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a communiqué, the PGO says the prosecutors studied the pictures published on the Internet, which show a young woman forced by a police officer and a man in civvies to get into a car.
The Prosecutor’s Office of Buiucani district is investigating the case to determine if the police officer’s actions were abusive or not.
A theft was reported to the police on October 18. A man complained that a woman with whom he got acquitted one day earlier stole his wallet with his documents and €700 inside. According to the Ministry of the Interior, in order to establish all the circumstances of the case and arrest the suspect, the chief police officer of Durlesti went to the State University of Moldova, where the young woman studied, together with the victim. The Ministry’s spokesman said the girl refused to comply with the policeman’s demands and had an aggressive behavior.
On October 19, a group of persons gathered in front of the building of the Ministry of the Interior, demanding that the institution’s personnel should resign. They protested against the abuses committed by the police.
