Pilot that violated Moldovan airspace has been pardoned

The Ukrainian pilot who violated the Moldovan airspace before landing on a field in Briceni district and abandoning the aircraft has been pardoned by a Ukrainian court, Info-Prim Neo learned from the Moldovan Prosecutor General's Office (PGO). On 19 August 2010, the pilot, a Ukrainian national, took off from the town of Antonovka in Khmelnitsky Oblast and flew over the Ukrainian and Moldovan air spaces without proper permission from civil aviation authorities. After landing near the Moldovan village of Berlinti, Briceni district, he abandoned the aircraft and left the territory of Moldova in unestablished circumstances. As the pilot left Moldova, he could not be prosecuted in our country. Thus, the Moldovan prosecutors decided to remit the case to the Ukrainian authorities, the PGO explained in a press release. The Khmelnitsky Court found the pilot guilty of violating aviation rules, but exempted him from punishment under a general amnesty granted by the Ukrainian parliament.
