The eVMS.md platform for trading in State Securities (SSs) will be launched at the end of this month. According to the Ministry of Finance, it is a premiere for the Republic of Moldova, which will allow direct transactions, without intermediaries and commissions.

According to the Ministry, State Securities are one of the safest investment instruments due to the full guarantee offered by the state. Through them, the state borrows from citizens to finance the country’s development and economic growth projects. The SSs include treasury bills, which are issued for a term of up to one year, and government bonds, which are issued for terms longer than one year.

“The launch of the eVMS.md platform will allow citizens, who are in the country or abroad, but who have a bank account in the Republic of Moldova, to invest in SSs, and the Ministry of Finance to borrow from individuals, in order to finance various development projects of the country - social, infrastructure, etc. The active participation of investors in the SS market is a form of civil involvement of citizens in the country’s economic growth,” says a press release.

Through the eVMS.md online platform, citizens of the Republic of Moldova will be able to create a personalized account and carry out online transactions related to investments in SSs, without intermediaries. They will also be able to access up-to-date information, such as current and historical rates, benefiting from transparency and clarity in all conducted transactions. They will be able to manage their account and investments made 24/7, with maximum flexibility in investment management.

The Ministry specifies that, since the establishment of the SS market in 1995, the state has honored on time the payments for their redemption and the payment of the related interest.

The new platform was developed with the support of the USAID Project “Transparency of the Financial Sector in Moldova”.
