Poet Eugen Holban marks 90 years

Poet and publicist Eugen Holban was honored on December 16 within the cultural event “Memory that replaces country”, organized by the Romanian Language House. The head of the Romanian Language House Alexandru Bantos said that Eugen Holban at 90 years remains the exiled Ambassador of Bessarabia, an example of spirituality, a defender of the historical truth and a real patriot, Info-Prim Neo reports. Doctor of History Gheorghe Paladi, lecturer of the State University of Moldova, said that Eugen Holban's pieces of advice are useful to the current political class as well. The poet supports the idea that the political forces must unite in periods of crisis, like the one experienced now by Moldova. Eugen Holban settled in France a long time ago. In Moldova, he is known for his over 20 book collections and for initiating the contest “Mostenire” (“Inheritance”), which is intended for upper graders from Moldova and Ukraine. An exhibition of paintings by Valentina Brancoveanu was opened within the cultural event. The painter said that the over 30 exhibited works were made in Romania and that she intends to stage a new exhibition of paintings showing places that bear relation to the great poet Mihai Eminescu. The program of the cultural event “Memory that replaces country” included the launch of the 11th-12th issue of the journal “Romanian Language” at the confluence of years.
