Poet Grigore Vieru to be awarded title of honored citizen of Chisinau post-mortem

Poet Grigore Vieru will be awarded the title of an honored citizen of Chisinau post-mortem, Info-Prim Neo reports. The decision will be carried out till February14, when poet Grigore Vieru would have turned 74 years, the website of the City Hall informs. A street in Chisinau will get the name of Vieru. The local authorities are still considering many streets to rename one. Among them is Pushkin street, Renasterii boulevard or Moscow boulevard. A bust will be erected on the street bearing his name. A commemorative plaque will be mounted on the house where the poet lived, and a cultural center “Grigore Vieru” with a museum will be founded. The Academy of Sciences of Modova has already announced that it instituted an annual national award in literature “Grigore Vieru,” and the central authorities said they would publish the entire work of the poet. The Chisinau local authorities committed to publish an album with the poet’s photos and a volume entitled “Grigore Vieru in the memory of contemporaries.” A CD and a DVD with poetry in the author’s reading and the poet’s discourses are to be launched.
