Five men were arrested by the police for selling marijuana and poppy straws to the value of 70 million lei in a park, IPN reports.

According to the National Investigations Inspectorate, the men are suspected of processing and selling drugs in northern Moldova. For 30 grams of narcotic substances, they got by 700 - 800 lei.

The police discovered and seized 500 grams of marijuana and 300 grams of poppy straws in the car of one of the suspects. As a result of searches at the homes of the suspects, there were found 5 kg of a dry vegetal mass that included poppy straws, hemp and hemp plants. The vehicle used to transport the drugs was also seized.

The men are investigated under arrest. They face 7 to 15 years behind bars.
