Police identify Airport bomb threat suspect

The police identified an Ungheni man who is suspected to be responsible for a bogus bomb threat at the Chisinau International Airport two weeks ago, announced the official website of the Ministry of the Interior. According to the police, the man, 21, made the call to spoil the arrival of an ex-girlfriend who was supposed to land at the Airport that morning. This is not the man's first criminal offense, the police said. On July 18 in the morning, hundreds of passengers and airport personnel were evacuated after a man called at the information bureau and claimed that a bomb had been placed in the airport. After two hours’ searching, bomb disposal experts didn’t find anything. Shortly, the police announced that the phone number used to make the threat was identified and a man would be quizzed, but it later proved that the man had no involvement. The offense of making a false threat of an act of terrorism is punishable by a fine of up to 10,000 lei, 180 to 240 hours of community service, or up to 2 years in prison.
