Police officer faces up to 10 years in jail for torturing minor during April protests
The Prosecutor's Office is completing the investigation into a case of use of torture by a police officer against a minor during the April protests. If found guilty, the policeman would serve 5 to 10 years in prison, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a communique, the Prosecutor General's Office says that the police officer detained the minor and caused him later average bodily injuries. The minor was detained groundlessly, when the police were looking for the persons who participated in the April mass disorder.
Minister of the Interior Victor Catan told a news conference on Tuesday that an internal commission will be created to investigate the April events and identify the police officers who used torture.
