Police officer who forced young woman to get into private car investigated
The Buiucani Prosecutor’s Office started a criminal case against the policeman who on October 18 arrested a young woman suspected of theft and forced her to get into the car of the man who was robbed, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the police officer of the Durlesti police station abused his authority and made use of violence. The prosecutors will also assess the actions of the man who helped detain the young woman. An investigation was launched after pictures showing a young woman forced by a police officer and a man in civvies to get into a car were published on the Internet.
Press office of the Ministry of the Interior Eugeniu Onica said earlier that a theft was reported to the police on October 18. A man complained that a woman with whom he got acquitted one day earlier stole his wallet with his documents and €700 inside. In order to establish all the circumstances of the case and arrest the suspect, the police officer went to the State University of Moldova, where the young woman studied, together with the victim. The policeman said the girl refused to comply with his demands and had an aggressive behavior.
The police officer faces two to six years in prison. He may be banned from holding certain posts or performing certain activities of a period of up to five years.
