The routes of the police patrols will be trebled during the holidays in order to ensure security and maintain public order. Employees of the Ministry of the Interior will patrol mainly the squares, streets, recreational places and shopping centers, Info-Prim Neo reports.
About 5,400 police officers will be daily engaged in maintaining public order all over the country. Approximately 1,700 police officers of these will patrol the streets of Chisinau, Mihai Cebotaru, the head of the General Public Order Division, said Tuesday.
According to him, police posts will be set up in the Great National Assembly Square in concert with the Chisinau City Hall on December 25 and 31. “The police officers will randomly search persons who will seem suspicious to them,” Mihai Cebotaru said.
He also said that there will be also installed surveillance cameras, but did not specify where.
The persons who will want to celebrate the holidays in the Great National Assembly Square will be banned from having alcoholic drinks, arms and pyrotechnical objects as they can destabilize the situation. There will be no stands selling food products made using open fire. The traditional mulled wine will be prepared at electric stoves.
From Tuesday, December 22, employees of the Ministry of the Interior, the preventive medicine service, veterinary service, standardization and metrology service, the administrations of the markets and shopping centers will take joint measures to identify expired food products and products kept in inappropriate conditions.
Mihai Cebotaru advised not buying food products at lower prices sold in unauthorized places in order to avoid poisonings.
