Police officer Sergiu Galaniuc was convicted of misconduct in office in the case regarding the April 7, 2009 protests. The Chisinau Court of Appeals Thursday imposed a fine of 10,000 lei on him. The defendant’s lawyer Veronica Mihailov has told Info-Prim Neo that Sergiu Galaniuc will not be able to hold public posts. The Municipal Prosecutor’s Office accused Sergiu Galaniuc of misconduct in office. The plaintiffs in this case are Lotca Andrei, Iurcu Vitalie, Roman Tatiana, Banari Radu, Donos Marcela, Calancea Radu and others. The first court acquitted the policeman, but the prosecutors appealed the decision to the Chisinau Court of Appeals.
