Border police officer Mihail Iantus, who was maltreated by three men from a village of Cahul district, died. The Border Police personnel mourn the premature death of their colleague, IPN reports.
In the evening of July 12, the police in Cahul were informed that a number of young people were maltreating a person. At the scene, the police officers found a local who turned out to be an employee of the Border Police. This intervened to mediate in a conflict that arouse between three individuals who were inebriated. Leaving him lying down, the suspects left the crime scene. These were arrested shortly afterward. They are aged 27, 30 and 37.
Mihail Iantus, 30, had worked as an inspector at the Vulcanesti Border Police Sector since 2007 and had done his job responsibly. He left a pregnant wife and a five-year-old child.
The three individuals face up to seven years in jail for hooliganism.
