Policemen convicted of acts of corruption

A police officer of the Rascani Police Inspectorate and another one of the Floresti Police Inspectorate were found guilty of acts of corruption, IPN has learned from the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The policeman from Floresti, who held the post of investigation officer in the Inspectorate’s Serious Crimes Division, was put on probation for four years for passive corruption and banned from holding public posts and posts in the Ministry of the Interior for a period of seven years. He was also fined 90,000 lei. It was established that last spring, the policeman asked for US$500 from the mother of a minor for not starting a criminal case against her son for theft.

The post head of the Rascani Police Inspectorate was put on probation for three years, banned from holding public posts and posts in the Ministry of the Interior for a period of two years, and fined 20,000 lei for asking for €700 from a person involved in a case of physical abuse for hushing up this case.

The sentences are not yet definitive.
