Portal created to unite Moldovan diaspora

A portal for the Moldovan diaspora - din.md - was launched on August 8. Until now Moldova didn’t have such a portal. Through the agency of this portal, the authorities aim to answer migrants’ questions concerning the public policies and services in Moldova, IPN reports.

In the launch, head of the Bureau for Diaspora Relations Victor Lutenco said the idea of creating such a portal was inspired by Ireland. “The Moldovans from the diaspora can register on this portal and can create groups on three dimensions – occupation, residence and origin,” he stated.

The portal contains comprehensive information about the services provided by the authorities to migrants. It is designed to create ties between migrants, who will be able to exchange information through it. The portal will also provide information about the events intended for the diaspora, organized in Moldova, and the events with the diaspora, staged by the Moldovans from abroad.

Attending the event, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said that through the agency of the portal, the migrants will be able to discuss the Government’s policies and their perceptions of these policies and to formulate proposals for improving them.

The portal din.md was created with the support of the EU project “Strengthening migration management capacities in the Republic of Moldova”, which is implemented by the Swedish Public Employment Service, the International Organization for Migration, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, and UNDP Moldova.
