Position of Customs Service director remains vacant

The position of director of the Customs Service remains vacant. Neither of the two candidates that made the final phase of the competition met the selection committee’s standards. The announcement was made after a public interview assessment process that took place on Thursday, October 31, IPN reports.

The Ministry of Finance said in a press release that both Iurie Gorea and Natalia Calenic obtained average scores lower than 7.5 at the interview. Given the results, all candidates failed to meet the selection criteria and so the competition process will have to start all over again.

The contest for the position of director of the Customs Service was announced on September 3, and the deadline for submitting the files was September 30. During this period, 21 people submitted the files in due time, and one person after the deadline.

Members of the competition committee were: Natalia Gavrilița, Minister of Finance; Igor Talmazan, representative of the State Chancellery; Andrei Balan, head of the legal division at the Ministry of Finance; Sergiu Gaibu, civil society representative; Tatiana Lariușin, business community representative; Elena Levința-Perciun, human resources expert and Tatiana Buianina, psychologist. Ion Preașca, investigative journalist, advised the Commission as an non-voting member.
