The power failure that resulted in an accident in Termocom's pipes on March 20 was caused by a case of electrocution, Vasile Gribincea, spokesman for the power supplier RED Union Fenosa, told Info-Prim Neo. “A woman mounted a lamp post with the intention of killing herself. As a result, a 110 kV power line was damaged, causing a power failure,” Vasile Gribincea said. He also said that such cases are unpredictable and uncontrollable. “The people arbitrarily intervene in the electrics, breaking the security rules and causing thus accidents in the power lines,” Gribincea added. At Monday's meeting of the Chisinau City Hall, Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca and the commercial director of the heat supplier Termocom Mihai Arusoi accused the power supplier of casing accidents in the heating system by not preventing the frequent power failures. Chirtoaca said that Termocom has the right to sue Union Fenosa for damages. A number of pumping stations stopped work and a pipe broke open as a result of a power failure on March 20. The hot water that flowed through the break flooded a house and several gardens on Drumul Crucii St in Chisinau.
