Premier considers Platform “Dignity and Truth” does not want to discuss with government

Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet expected in vain members of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” to come to discuss the demands they put forward in the evening of September 6. The official considers the members of the Platform, even if they asked to have meetings, do not intend to discuss with the government, IPN reports.

In the absence of those who asked for the meeting, the Premier told the attending journalists about the executive’s plans for overcoming the crisis situation in the country. According to Valeriu Strelet, the efforts will be aimed at ensuring macroeconomic stability and at normalizing the relations with the development partners. An important package of laws concerning the judicial system is to be adopted. The national integrity system will also be reformed and steps will be taken to ensure the social benefits and salaries are paid without delays.

Earlier the same day, the Prime Minister met with several representatives of the protesters and communicated to them that the Head of Parliament and the President cannot take part in the meeting, but are ready to examine and discuss the systematized demands the next few days. “The Government has a working group consisting of the responsible ministers. We are ready to meet with the representatives of people and will tell them about all our plans. I hope we will reach a consensus,” he stated.

Protesters’ representatives refused to go to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, where a meeting with Valeriu Strelet was to take place. They said the Government Building represents the power in the state and the discussions should take place there.

Through the agency of the media, the Premier replied that the Ministry’s building often hosted meetings with foreign delegations and different public events. The given building was chosen also due to security reasons. “I remark that a scenario similar to that of June, when different locations were being discussed, is being designed. There were probably invented reasons for not initiating a constructive dialogue with the bodies of the power. We carried out an analysis to determine which of protesters’ demands are in the competence of the Government. We formulated proposals how to put them into practice and expected representatives of the protesters to come to discussions,” stated Valeriu Strelet.

He expressed his readiness to have a dialogue the next days, saying the meetings could be held in a place chosen by mutual consent.
