Premier entrusts ICT Ministry with new task
The right to property is violated when large sums of money are collected at the customs from the Moldovans working abroad for bringing cars older than seven into the country, Prime Minister Vlad Filat said on March 17. He instructed the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology to identify other methods for preventing the sale of such vehicles inside the country, Info-Prim Neo reports.
"I agree that the stock of cars in Moldova should be renewed, but the levying of €2,000-3,000 from our citizens, depending on the type of car and its capacity, as guarantee that the vehicles will not be sold is not the best solution. This money is designed for the families, but it remains at the customs. We should find another method like signing a contract whereby the owner will pledge not to sell the car,” Vlad Filat said.
In this connection, the Premier praised the ITC Ministry for the measures taken to facilitate the issuing of passports to the Moldovans working abroad at Moldova's embassies and consulates.
