Premier seeks simplified procedures for obtaining work permits for foreigners

Prime Minister Pavel Filip requested that the procedures for obtaining work and stay permits for foreigners should be simplified so as to eliminate the barriers that hamper the attraction of foreign investment. As a result of discussions in a meeting in the Government Building, the Premier instructed the responsible authorities to formulate and present within a month proposals for amending the law on labor migration and the regime of foreigners so that this document is presented to the Cabinet for examination and approval, IPN reports.

Pavel Fillip referred also to the actions that were already taken by the executive to improve the business climate. These include the reduction in the number of inspection bodies and permissive documents and approval of legislation to ensure the predictability and transparency of state inspections. In parallel, the procedures that a foreigner should perform to be able to work legally in Moldova will also be simplified and reduced.

The Prime Minister said the current barriers to the legalization of the stay and work of foreigners prevent the attraction of investment to the country. The state should keep the role of exacting regulator, while the procedures for issuing work and stay permits to foreigners in Moldova should be clear and simple.
