President Igor Dodon transmitted a message of condolence to the people of Japan in connection with the floods that caused havoc in western and central Japan and significant damage and casualties, IPN reports.
“In these hard moments for the Japanese citizens, in the name of the people of the Republic of Moldova and in my name, I express our feelings of profound compassion. Please transmit our sincere condolences to the grieving families and power to overcome these difficult moments to all those who were stricken by the tempest,” says the President’s message addressed to the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzō Abe.
According to the foreign press, over 150 persons died as a result of the landslides and floods caused by the torrential rain in Japan. Dozens of persons are still missing. About 2 million people were evacuated from the region as rivers overflowed dangerously.
