A prosecutor from Orhei and a lawyer were arrested on suspicion of passive corruption in the evening of October 8, IPN reports, with reference to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.

The prosecutor is suspected of asking, through the agency of the lawyer, for €3,000 from the wife of a person suspected of drug distribution for reclassifying the criminal case and setting the suspect free.

The anticorruption prosecutors started three criminal cases. Also, the judge who tried the case at the initial stage is suspected of asking €2,000 from the suspect’s wife through the lawyer.

The prosecutor and the lawyer are held at the remand prison of the National Anticorruption Center. The judge is investigated outside remand. For this to be arrested, the Superior Council of Magistracy is to give its consent.
