Prosecutor General receives response from US rogatory commission

The Moldovan Prosecutor General's Office has received the response of a rogatory commission created in the United States to examine the footage filmed from the Government's building during last April's violence, Info-Prim Neo reports. “We created a rogatory commission in Romania and the US to handle the processing of the footage. We have already received a package from the US with the response of the rogatory commission”, Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubco told a program on the Moldovan channel Prime. He said the commission's report would help to identify the persons who had been involved in the death of Valeriu Boboc, a young demonstrator. Zubco mentioned that foreign assistance was sought because Moldova didn't have the equipment to do the job. Valeriu Zubco went on to add that over 1,500 people were quizzed in connection with the so-called April 7 Case; hundreds of criminal procedure actions were carried out, “an unprecedented case in the history of the (Moldovan) prosecutorial bodies”. A number of high-ranking law enforcement officers have been charged with power abuse in the April 7 Case, including former Interior Minister Gheorghe Papuc and former Chisinau police chief Iacob Gumenita.
