Prosecutors caught red-handed

Two prosecutors of the Glodeni Prosecutor's Office were arrested on suspicion of passive corruption. The two were caught red-handed after a man complained that they asked money from him for closing a legal case opened against him over drunk driving, Info-Prim Neo reports. The Center for Combating Corruption and Economic Crime and the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office organized an operation to arrest the two prosecutors. The 200 euros marked 'bribe' was sent to one of the prosecutors in a first-aid kit through the agency of a veterinarian, the Prosecutor General's Office says in a communique. The man who informed the anticorruption officers said he had earlier given 800 euros to the two prosecutors to help him get off scot-free. The prosecutors are liable to seven to 15 years in jail or fine of 20,000 to 60,000 lei.
