The Chisinau City Prosecutor’s Office took legal action and will start a criminal case over killing out of imprudence in the case of the explosion that occurred in an apartment building situated at 11/5 Moscovei Blvd in the capital city in the evening of October 6. The information was confirmed for IPN by the head of the Chisinau City Prosecutor’s Office Ștefan Șaptefrați.

Three persons, including a four-year-old child, died in the explosion.

The cause of blast is not yet known, but firefighters found a gas cylinder at the scene.

Under the legislation, killing out of imprudence carries a penalty of at most six years in jail.

The blast affected a number of apartments on the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th floors of stair No. 6 of the block. A fireman hurt during the rescue operation and a woman in whose apartment the explosion occurred, who suffered serious burns, remain hospitalized.
