Prut water level continues to rise

The level of water of the Prut River will continue to increase during July 7 – 17. The overflow capacity of the accumulation lake Costesti – Stanca is now 630 cubic meters per second, Ivan Cucenic, division head at Moldova's Water Agency, has told Info-Prim Neo. The Prut water level in Ungheni district remained unchanged, while in Cahul, Cantemir, Leova and Hancesti increased. “Flooding is possible in the upper course of the Prut, in the Carpathian region,” Ivan Cucenic said. According to the State Hydrometeorology Service, the Prut water level will rise by 0.2-0.6 centimeters on the segment between Ungheni and Cantemir towns during July 7 – 17. Some of the villages and crop fields located near the river are in danger of being partially flooded.
