The police in December discovered more than 60 cases of keeping, transporting and selling meat products without documents of origin, seizing 26,899 kg of such products worth 905,470 lei, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a news conference, Oleg Putuntica, the head of the Interior Ministry's Frauds Investigation Division, said the police officers checked markets, warehouses and shopping centers and identified many irregularities.
“There were inspected 34 economic entities and 28 private individuals. The about 100 irregularities identified included the sale of products with the expired shelf life and products that did not have the date of manufacture and the shelf life indicated on them, the transportation, keeping and sale of goods without documents of origin,” Putuntica said.
According to Putuntica, 770 kg of smoked fish to the value of 37,500 lei were seized from a cooperative working in Bubuieci village of the municipality of Chisinau. Not far from the Central Market in Chisinau, the police found 2,171 kg of citrus fruits worth 32,000 million lei without documents of origin. The fruits were kept in unsanitary conditions and were to be sold during the winter holidays.
The police also seized Chinese pyrotechnical products worth 156,000 lei from individuals, 57,466 lei from private companies and 6,000 lei from the zonal markets.
